Christmas Tree Hunting - 12/04/10

Our family decided to try something new this year. We went down to Grandpa Carl's place in Spring City and went Christmas tree hunting! :) We had so much fun going up the canyon and then hiking up the mountain until we found our Christmas tree. Jake cut it down for us. Grandpa got a tree too. Then the men dragged both Christmas trees down the mountain and back to the trucks. We spent the night at Grandpa Carl's and Grandma Jeanie's. Sunday we drove back home and put up our tree. It is beautiful and we had such a great time!! Yea for Christmas!!!!

Jake turns 15!!! November 26, 2010

So, I'm a little out of order on the blog. Oh well. Anyway, Jake turned 15 on Friday, November 26, 2010. It was the day after Thanksgiving and it was such a fun day. We first got up and he opened his presents. His favorite I believe was, Call of Duty Black Ops, which is a video game that just came out. Then we had crepes for breakfast, Jake's favorite! We then went to see the latest Harry Potter movie, The Dark Hallows Part one. We loved the movie and then came home so Ben and I could rest for a minute and Jake and Ryan played the new game. That evening Jake chose to go to The Cowboy Grub for dinner. It was delicious, as always. Then we drove around downtown looking at the Christmas lights. We would have walked around but it was bitter cold and only about 15 degrees outside.

We are so grateful to have Jake in our family. He is such a good young man and so fun to be with. He recently received his grades for first quarter and he got a 3.7! HONOR ROLL!!! We are so proud of him for making good choices and trying his best in all he does.

Ryan gets his cast off! 12/02/10

Ryan got the green light from his hand doctor, Dr. Martin, to get his cast off! He was so excited to get it off. What is funny is he was at first excited to get on his cast and have everyone sign it, but the thrill quickly wore off and he didn't love it very much after that. He was so grateful to be able to use his hand again!!

Ryan's Broken Hand...Nov. 3, 2010

The sixth grade had just finished their unit on Greeks. One of the teachers decided to do a Greek Olympics to finish it off. The kids went out onto the field and were able to do different "Olympic" activities. One was the javelin throw where the kids got to throw "javelins" which were actually foam swim noodles. Great idea! Another was the "discus" throw. The teacher had the kids spin around 3 times and then throw the "discus" as far as they could. The discus was actually a 5 lb. weight (she brought a couple of 5 lb. and 8 lb. weights) she had brought from her weight lifting set from home. Bad idea! The kids waiting their turn were not behind a protective barrier, they just stood behind a jump rope she placed on the ground. The kid throwing the weight was only about 6 feet away from those waiting in line. Ryan was waiting in line, and since he was up next was holding a weight in his left hand. The boy who was up, spun around 3 times, and over spun, sending the discus hurtling back towards those in line. It hit Ryan right in the hand, smashing his hand between the two weights. OUCH!! It broke his middle knuckle. His hand was swollen and bruised on the inside and outside. It was very painful! He got his cast on the following week after the swelling had gone down. Poor kid!! Dumb teacher!!

Halloween Party - October 16, 2010

Family Halloween Party Oct. 16, 2010

We had our annual Heinhold Family Halloween Party on October 16, 2010. Every year, Grandpa Ken and Grandma Lynne host it at their home, but since they are on a mission in New York, this year we hosted it at our home! We had a great time playing fun games with the kids: musical mats, Red light green light and Mummy wrap. The finale is always the Pinata!! The weather was beautiful for an October evening...that day the high was 79 degrees!! We had a great time!

Spring City with the Terry's Labor Day Weekend 2010

Our dear friends, Jason and Sally Kelsch and their children were baptized to follow the Lord on July 2, 2009. A year later, on July 30, 2010, Jason and Sally went through the temple for the first time. The next day they were sealed and then their children were sealed to them. It was the most amazing experience!!! I was blessed to be Sally's escort as she went through the temple for the first time. Her mother, Alhona, also went through the temple for her first time on the same day. It was a beautiful experience and our family was so grateful to be a part of it. On July 31, 2010, Tamara Jensen and I put together an open house for the Kelsch's. It was going to be in our backyard, but about an hour before the open house, we had to pack everything up and move it to the ward because the weather turned windy and rainy. Other than that, it was perfect!! Josh, Jake and Ryan were troopers as they had to set up our backyard, take everything down, and then set up again at the ward. Such great kids!!

Mom and Dad's Farewell-July 18, 2010

Evening at the Homestead with Debra Fotheringham

One of our family's favorite singers is Debra Fotheringham. Every year she plays up at the Homestead. We always go up and listen to her. After, we like to go to Fanny's Grill for hot chocolate out on the patio.

Ben's family reunion for his mom's side of the family was on Saturday at Snowbird. We had a great time swimming, hanging out with family and enjoying the nice cool air up the canyon.

Herriman Elementary Dance Festival June 30, 2010

I never wrote about the Herriman Dance Festival (probably because Ryan only sort of cares about it, but I love going to it and watching all the kids dance).

Ryan is in 5th grade and the 5th grade classes were representing the 70's era of music. He insisted that his hat and wig were definitely 70's style clothing! I think he really just wanted to wear that weird hat and wig to school.

I'm 41!!!

On June 17th I turned 41!!! I had the most wonderful day!! My cute husband and boys got me my favorite, a Mrs. Backer's cake for my birthday. My boys took me to New Delhi Palace for lunch. It was delicious! That evening my good friend, Sally Kelsch, took me to see the A Team. What a great movie it was!! On Saturday, Ben and I went to Madeline's for a Prime Rib dinner to celebrate. I am so grateful to have had 41 wonderful years on this earth. I truly have had a very happy and fulfilling life so far and hope for at least 41 more!!!! I love my family!!!

Jake's tonsillectomy June 11, 2010

On Friday, June 11, Jake had his tonsils taken out. He had been getting strep pretty frequently and was to the point of a chronic sore throat. His tonsils were huge even when he wasn't sick! He did really well. When they took me back to the recovery room after the surgery, one of the nurses was feeding Jake a rootbeer slushie and the other was writing his "stats" down. Jake was sitting up with a smile on his face. One of the nurses looked at me and asked, "Can we keep him?" and then the other said, "Yes, can we keep him? He is the most adorable and pleasant patient we've ever had!" They proceeded to tell me how he had come out of the anesthetic "beautifully". They asked him when he was coming to, to tell them about himself and they said, "We learned his name is Jake Timm, he lives in Herriman and he plays football." Jake is such a great kid and he is super glad the surgery is over!!

Josh's 18th Birthday June 10, 2010

Josh turned 18 on June 10, 2010! Unbelievable that Benj and I are now parents of an adult. Man, we're not even old! Anyway, we had such a fun day. We took Josh to one of his favorite restaurants for lunch, Panda Express. That night we had a surprise party for him at Buca Di Beppo. All of his little cousins jumped out and yelled, "Surprise" as he walked into our own private room. What a fun night!

Trip to St. George and Zion June 3-6 2010

Trip to St. George and Zion June 3-6 2010

The day after Josh's graduation, we left for St. George for some rest and relaxation! We spent a few days down there enjoying the pool, the heat (since it has been a freezing cold spring!), and Zion National Park. While in Zion, we swim in the river pools up there. It is so much fun and the kids and hubby had a blast jumping into the nice cold water since it was 105 degrees while we were down there!

Josh's Graduation from High School June 2, 2010!!!

Josh graduated from Riverton High School on June 2, 2010. I can't believe he is this old. Where did time go? It wasn't that long ago that he was just a little boy, and now he is a young man. The graduation was held at the South Towne Expo Center since there were so many graduates. There were 850 that graduated that night and the Expo Center was packed! When they read off the names, they did it quickly, one right after another and it still took 40 minutes!! We are so proud of Josh and can't wait to see all the great things he will accomplish!
