Christmas 2011

I am so behind on my blog!  I haven't added our New York trip photos yet and that was clear back in May/June 2011.  There have been football games and two championships won, and not one has been recorded here.  So, I am going to go out of order and start with our wonderful Christmas season!

On December 11, 2011, Ryan turned 13!  I can't believe he is that old.
The night before, for his birthday  we went to Hale Center Theater to see "A Christmas Carol" and then to  Johnny Carino's for dinner.  We had such a wonderful time!  Ryan is such a fun young man and is always happy and making us laugh.

The following week, my good friend from Australia and her 3 boys came and stayed with our family.  We had a great time going to Thanksgiving Point on a wagon ride to see the lights and then to the deli for dinner and hot chocolate.  Sunday morning they attended Sacrament Meeting with us.

The next week I finally got my Christmas cards out...I almost didn't this year.  Things were so busy...and I almost didn't get neighbor gifts out, but I did at the last minute with the help of my boys.  I did cut back on the neighbor gifts though....I just couldn't do the 3o or so I do every year.  I just love my friends and wanted to give everyone something, but that just can be too hard year after year, so I only did a few this year.

Saturday, Christmas Eve, we ate dinner at Robintino's which is a yearly tradition, and then back to Grandpa Ken and Grandma Lynne's for a video on the birth of the Savior and Hot Fudge Sundaes!  Yum!  Christmas Day we got up and opened our presents and then Josh and his friend Jacob came over to visit.  Then we went to Grandma Kathy's for her Ebleskiver breakfast and then to my parent's home for Prime Rib dinner.  We had such a wonderful day!

My first 5K run!!! Saturday, May 14, 2011

This year I ran my first 5K!  It was the University of Utah Law Day Run.  My cute husband did it with me just so I wouldn't have to run alone.  I ran it in 38 minutes, without even really pushing myself!  I really had a fun time and will definitely do it again.

Jake-RUGBY!!!

This spring Jake played rugby for Herriman High Rugby Club.  It was their first year and they went all the way to the semi-finals!  They had a great team and Jake LOVED learning this new sport.  His position is forward and lock.  He can't wait until rugby starts up again next January!

Fun from Christmas Eve until New Years Day 2010-2011

Christmas Eve at Dirk and Deb's.
Christmas Eve at Debbie's house. We had a great dinner at Robintino's, which is a tradition for our family. Then we went back to Dirk and Debbie's house for hot chocolate. We called mom and dad and did Skype so we could talk to them and see them at the same time. The kids all opened their gifts from Grandma and Grandpa that night so Grandma and Grandpa could be a part of our evening.
Jake and his funny pose...New Year's Eve
We finished level 36 and we were starting level 37 on Jenga before our tower fell! That makes us experts (the box says!).

Our lost puppy....

When we came home from our Christmas dinner, our little 6 month old puppy, Mamie, was not in our backyard. She had dug out under the fence. We spent the rest of Christmas night looking for her to no avail. The kids were devastated. That night they made flyers to post around the neighborhood. After church on Sunday, Ben took the flyers and posted them everywhere and also slipped one in the door of the vet that is out here. Monday morning at 9:00am, the phone rang. It was the vet's office and a nice man had brought Mamie in to them that morning and dropped her off!!! The vet's office knew it was our puppy because Ben had dropped a flyer off there and they got it when they opened that morning. We were so thankful to the family that took care of her over the Christmas holiday. The top picture is of Ryan the day we got her back. Needless to say, the whole family was very, very, happy and relieved!

Christmas Day-Saturday, 12/25/2010

Every year Benj gets me a new Nutcracker for Christmas since I like to collect them. This is the Nutcracker he got me this year!!
Christmas Morning!!!! The best morning of the year!!!! We had a very nice Christmas this year. We opened gifts and then went to Grandma Kathy's for her traditional Ebleskiver breakfast. Yum! We usually go to my (Becky's) parents house after, but since my parents are serving a mission in New York, we went back home. We rested and watched "The A-Team" which was one of the gifts Santa brought. Josh had to work Christmas morning, but came home that afternoon to open his gifts. Later, we went to Dave and Emily's house for a Prime Rib dinner. It was absolutely delicious!! Merry Christmas 2010!!!

Ryan's Birthday!! 12 years old on Dec. 11, 2010

Ryan turned 12 on December 11th!! What a wonderful birthday he had. He has wanted a mountain bike with gears so he can keep up with his dad and brother when they go up in the mountains. He got one!!! He also got some games he has wanted and some new DC shoes. For Ryan's birthday, he, like Jake, wanted his favorite breakfast, Crepes!!! After, we went and saw the movie, "Chronicles of Narnia Voyage of the Dawn Treader". Ryan debated all week where he wanted to go for his birthday dinner. It was between Texas Roadhouse and Chuck-A-Rama. Everyday that week he would "feel"like one or the other, and he said he would decide on his birthday what he "felt" like eating that day. Chuck-A-Rama won! So, we had dinner there after the movie. We were then going to go to Thanksgiving Point to take a hayride to see the lights and hot chocolate at the deli, but Jake started not feeling well, so we did that the next Saturday.

One of the things Ryan was looking forward to the most about being 12 was receiving the Aaronic Priesthood. On Sunday December 12, 2010, Ryan was ordained a Deacon by his dad. Another thing he had been talking about for months was being able to go to the temple. He was finally 12 and we took him on Saturday, December 18, 2010, to the Oquirrh Temple for the first time. It was such a wonderful day being in the temple with our little family (minus Josh). After, we went home and changed and went to Thanksgiving Point to see the lights and then ate dinner there. It was a wonderful day!!

Ryan is such a great young man! He is always happy and is so much fun to be around. He is the comedian in our family and is amazing at imitating people. We always get a good laugh when Ryan is around!

Christmas Tree Hunting - 12/04/10

Our family decided to try something new this year. We went down to Grandpa Carl's place in Spring City and went Christmas tree hunting! :) We had so much fun going up the canyon and then hiking up the mountain until we found our Christmas tree. Jake cut it down for us. Grandpa got a tree too. Then the men dragged both Christmas trees down the mountain and back to the trucks. We spent the night at Grandpa Carl's and Grandma Jeanie's. Sunday we drove back home and put up our tree. It is beautiful and we had such a great time!! Yea for Christmas!!!!

Jake turns 15!!! November 26, 2010

So, I'm a little out of order on the blog. Oh well. Anyway, Jake turned 15 on Friday, November 26, 2010. It was the day after Thanksgiving and it was such a fun day. We first got up and he opened his presents. His favorite I believe was, Call of Duty Black Ops, which is a video game that just came out. Then we had crepes for breakfast, Jake's favorite! We then went to see the latest Harry Potter movie, The Dark Hallows Part one. We loved the movie and then came home so Ben and I could rest for a minute and Jake and Ryan played the new game. That evening Jake chose to go to The Cowboy Grub for dinner. It was delicious, as always. Then we drove around downtown looking at the Christmas lights. We would have walked around but it was bitter cold and only about 15 degrees outside.

We are so grateful to have Jake in our family. He is such a good young man and so fun to be with. He recently received his grades for first quarter and he got a 3.7! HONOR ROLL!!! We are so proud of him for making good choices and trying his best in all he does.

Ryan gets his cast off! 12/02/10

Ryan got the green light from his hand doctor, Dr. Martin, to get his cast off! He was so excited to get it off. What is funny is he was at first excited to get on his cast and have everyone sign it, but the thrill quickly wore off and he didn't love it very much after that. He was so grateful to be able to use his hand again!!

Ryan's Broken Hand...Nov. 3, 2010

The sixth grade had just finished their unit on Greeks. One of the teachers decided to do a Greek Olympics to finish it off. The kids went out onto the field and were able to do different "Olympic" activities. One was the javelin throw where the kids got to throw "javelins" which were actually foam swim noodles. Great idea! Another was the "discus" throw. The teacher had the kids spin around 3 times and then throw the "discus" as far as they could. The discus was actually a 5 lb. weight (she brought a couple of 5 lb. and 8 lb. weights) she had brought from her weight lifting set from home. Bad idea! The kids waiting their turn were not behind a protective barrier, they just stood behind a jump rope she placed on the ground. The kid throwing the weight was only about 6 feet away from those waiting in line. Ryan was waiting in line, and since he was up next was holding a weight in his left hand. The boy who was up, spun around 3 times, and over spun, sending the discus hurtling back towards those in line. It hit Ryan right in the hand, smashing his hand between the two weights. OUCH!! It broke his middle knuckle. His hand was swollen and bruised on the inside and outside. It was very painful! He got his cast on the following week after the swelling had gone down. Poor kid!! Dumb teacher!!

Halloween Party - October 16, 2010

Family Halloween Party Oct. 16, 2010

We had our annual Heinhold Family Halloween Party on October 16, 2010. Every year, Grandpa Ken and Grandma Lynne host it at their home, but since they are on a mission in New York, this year we hosted it at our home! We had a great time playing fun games with the kids: musical mats, Red light green light and Mummy wrap. The finale is always the Pinata!! The weather was beautiful for an October evening...that day the high was 79 degrees!! We had a great time!

Spring City with the Terry's Labor Day Weekend 2010

Our dear friends, Jason and Sally Kelsch and their children were baptized to follow the Lord on July 2, 2009. A year later, on July 30, 2010, Jason and Sally went through the temple for the first time. The next day they were sealed and then their children were sealed to them. It was the most amazing experience!!! I was blessed to be Sally's escort as she went through the temple for the first time. Her mother, Alhona, also went through the temple for her first time on the same day. It was a beautiful experience and our family was so grateful to be a part of it. On July 31, 2010, Tamara Jensen and I put together an open house for the Kelsch's. It was going to be in our backyard, but about an hour before the open house, we had to pack everything up and move it to the ward because the weather turned windy and rainy. Other than that, it was perfect!! Josh, Jake and Ryan were troopers as they had to set up our backyard, take everything down, and then set up again at the ward. Such great kids!!
